The stock fits snugly on the tube so it doesn't rattle, and it supports the cheek nicely when shooting. The butt is rounded so it doesn't catch on your clothing when moving the gun to your shoulder. There is a trick to installing it - you need to pull out the locking pin as far as you can with something like a small sturdy dental pick and the stock will slide over the tube.
